This Research Note examines the development of Technis, a Swiss startup which has undergone several pivots, transitioning from smart tennis courts to smart flooring before shifting to a multi-disciplinary, unified space intelligence platform, spanning people flow, safety, and energy optimization. We draw on commentary from a July 2025 podcast, “The Pivot that Makes or Breaks Your Startup”, together with our own research. Evolution of Technis Founded in 2016 by co-founder Wiktor Bourée, CEO, as an EPFL spinoff, Lausanne-based Technis pivoted early on from analyzing sports surfaces to providing smart flooring solutions for various applications.
