How Advanced are Video Analytics Now?

The general consensus in the Physical Security and Video Surveillance industry is that the benefits of Analytics were previously oversold, no doubt leaving a sour taste in the mouth of some buyers. So as an industry we are entitled to keep asking how advanced Video Analytics are now? The simple truth is that intelligent computer vision is an immensely difficult challenge to take on.
