This Research Note examines the May 2026 acquisition of MaintainX by Autodesk, the $7.2 billion architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) software giant. We highlight the transaction details, the strategic rationale of the acquisition and a profile of the CMMS startup before commenting on our view of this deal. Transaction Details Autodesk, Inc. entered into a definitive agreement on 27th May 2026 to acquire MaintainX, a US-based maintenance and operations software provider, in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $3.6 billion. Autodesk intends to fund the transaction with a combination of cash on hand and debt financing. The deal is expected to close later this fiscal year. MaintainX expects to achieve in excess of $135 million of annualized recurring revenue (ARR) for 2026, with growth in excess of 50%.
