This Research Note examines the collaboration between Eaton and Autodesk and analyses the development of their partnership, the strategic aims of each party, and the long-term benefits for Eaton as it embeds itself into the AEC lifecycle. Early Phase (pre‑2024): BIM Content + Engineering Support Eaton’s initial involvement with Autodesk centered on supplying high‑quality BIM content for Revit and supporting electrical engineers with product data and application engineering. This was typical of manufacturer/AEC relationships: content libraries, design tools, and limited workflow integration. Expansion into Lifecycle Workflows (2024–2025): Brightlayer + Tandem By September 2025, Eaton and Autodesk formalized a deeper collaboration around digital energy twins, connecting Eaton’s Brightlayer energy management platform with Autodesk Tandem. This shifted the partnership from design tools to building lifecycle management, enabling: Electrical system simulation and optimization Predictive maintenance strategies Integration of energy management data with BIM/digital twin environments This phase marks Autodesk’s push into operations (AOS) and Eaton’s move from hardware […]
