According to a press release yesterday, Daintree Networks is making their ControlScope software available as a subscription-based cloud application, in an approach they are calling Building Energy Management Software as a Service (BEMaaS)

Companies will be able to buy monitoring and optimization services that allow them to stay on top of changes in their building operations by leveraging expertise from Daintree Networks' building energy professionals.
It is being described as an end-to-end energy management service offering that spans various building applications and control down to individual devices including lighting, thermostat, plug load, fans, and more.

The ControlScope BEMaaS solution requires no hardware other than a wireless area controller and sensors for their facility's building devices lights, thermostats, plug loads, meters, mechanical equipment such as fans and motors, and other energy-related products.
It basically streamlines the connection between building automation and the Internet of Things; or as we discuss in our recent research, the Building Internet of Things (BIoT) - http://memoori.com/portfolio/internet-things-smart-buildings-2014-2020/
The IoT will create a pressing need to identify solutions that address different devices' widely varying application, scalability, and reliability requirements; while controlling costs in order to spur enterprise adoption.
Daintree CEO Danny Yu noted, "...Now, we're creating an opportunity to achieve success for companies that lack either the resources or the desire to own and manage their building energy control and management system in-house. Devices securely talking to each other within and between buildings with the ability to control them remotely that's an option we're proud to say we're the first to offer in a comprehensive manner. And, since ControlScope is also the only true open standards solution, which is critical for IoT, ControlScope BEMaaS might very well be the first offering for the Enterprise Internet of Things in the cloud."
